DANIEL A. SORENSEN

Daniel was born in Denmark and immigrated to Canada at a young age. Having grown up in Chilliwack, BC, he has strong local roots in the Fraser Valley. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Political Science at the University of Victoria in 2003. Following this, Daniel spent a year interning with non-profits and later worked as a Youth Liaison for Elections BC, encouraging young people to vote. He obtained his law degree from the University of Victoria in 2008 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2009.
 
After law school, Daniel joined a law firm in the Fraser Valley where he gained experience in a wide range of practice areas. In 2014, he founded and operated his own law firm in the Fraser Valley, which he led for over a decade before transitioning to his current role at another law firm.
 

EXPERIENCE

Daniel is an experienced litigator who has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as a wide range of administrative bodies. These include WorkSafeBC, the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal, the Employment Standards Branch, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board, the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board, the Residential Tenancy Branch, the Civil Resolution Tribunal, and the Canadian Energy Regulator.
 
Daniel regularly acts for both employers and employees in employment-related matters, and frequently advises businesses on issues such as collections, contracts, leases, insurance disputes, and business conflicts. He also regularly acts for lenders, and has been retained to carry out legal work on behalf of municipal, provincial, and federal government entities.
 
In his practice, Daniel emphasizes practical, cost-effective solutions. He has resolved numerous matters through mediation, arbitration, and out-of-court settlement.

Daniel actively supports many good causes in the community. He is the current President of the Chilliwack Academy of Music and a past Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley, where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors. He is also a past President of the Chilliwack Bar Association. Daniel has contributed to legal education by reviewing scripts for the Canadian Bar Association’s Dial-A-Law service and by authoring content for the People’s Law School. He has also mentored junior lawyers through the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association’s mentorship programs.
 
Daniel is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
 
Outside of law, Daniel enjoys exploring the outdoors and is passionate about landscape photography. He lives with his wife, Yuri. Together, they share a love of food and travel, and can often be found trying new restaurants or exploring new destinations.

MICHAEL TRUONG

Michael is a Vietnamese-Canadian, born and raised in British Columbia, Canada.

Michael completed his Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences, majoring in Criminology, at Simon Fraser University. He went on to pursue his law degree at Thompson Rivers University, graduating in 2014 as part of the second inaugural class and reaching the Dean’s List in multiple years. After completing law school at Thompson Rivers University, he completed his first summer articles at Downtown Community Court, working closely with his late mentor and friend, Kelly K. Connell, Q.C., who he knew since his childhood. He credits Kelly as being one of the most influential people in his life, and a significant reason for his interest and success in the legal field. He completed his second summer articles with a prominent criminal law firm, Johnson Doyle Sugarman (as it was known then).

In 2015, Michael completed his articles with a law firm in the Fraser Valley. He stayed on as an associate and in 2021, he became partner. There, he met Daniel Sorensen and Jas Gill-Kahlon, and in 2025, together, they founded Sorensen Truong LLP.  

Michael has extensive experience across a wide range of practice areas, focusing on business, real estate, wills and estates, and employment law.  

Michael is an experienced litigator who has represented clients and been successful at all levels of court in British Columbia, including Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal. He has appeared in front of a range of administrative bodies, including the Residential Tenancy Branch, the Employment Standards Branch, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board, the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board, WorkSafeBC, and the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal. He has also resolved numerous matters through mediation and arbitration, developing practical, creative and effective strategies to achieve out-of-court settlements where appropriate.

In addition to his litigation practice, Michael is also an experienced solicitor. He has assisted clients with general contracts, corporate reorganizations, corporate transactions, real estate transactions, personal and commercial borrowing and lending, wills and estates planning including powers of attorney, representation agreements and trusts, employment-related matters including preparation and implementation of contracts and workplace policies, disciplinary measures and terminations, and residential and commercial lease review and negotiation.

In his practice, Michael emphasizes a practical, cost-effective and honest approach that focuses on providing options and achieving solutions that meet with his clients’ specific needs, goals, and circumstances.

Outside of law, Michael is an avid hockey fan and foodie. Through the good times and bad times, his loyalty and support for his Vancouver Canucks is unwavering. He is a foodie through and through, primarily because his wife is a self-taught culinary wizard. Together with their kids, they love trying new restaurants and going back to their favorite restaurants. If you ever want a restaurant suggestion, he will have many!

AZADEH TAGHIZADEH

AZADEH TAGHIZADEH

Azadeh completed her law degree at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in 2017. She has had experience practicing both solicitor’s work and litigation matters in Contracts Law, Employment Law, Wills and Estates and other general litigation matters, under both Provincial Court and Supreme Court. After being called to the Bar in 2019, Azadeh is now a Lawyer with our team.

Prior to attending law school, Azadeh earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Commerce, from University of British Columbia (UBC). She has volunteered for many non-profit organizations, including for the Alzheimer’s Society and the Law Students Legal Advice Program at UBC.

After completing her law degree, Azadeh backpacked through Europe, making her way from Barcelona, Spain to Santorini, Greece, devouring pastries and gelato along the way.

When Azadeh is not in the office, she enjoys being outdoors, playing soccer, traveling, eating and spending time with friends, family and her dogs.

JESSE LANGELIER

JESSE LANGELIER

On his path to becoming a Lawyer, Jesse began working as an Articling Student after completing his degree at the University of Victoria. While at UVic, Jesse co-authored a report with other students at the Environmental Law Clinic which was subsequently used to help ensure compliance with provincial and federal pollution regulations in the mining industry.

Jesse also had the opportunity to complete the final semester of his degree in Amsterdam, the Netherlands where he gained modest insight into international legal issues such as global human rights law, intellectual property law, and international corporate law.

As an Articling Student, Jesse gained experience in employment law, human rights law, contract law, strata law, and civil litigation. Jesse was called to the Bar on July 5th, 2023, and continues to practice in those areas as well as immigration and environmental law

When Jesse isn’t being a lawyer, he is usually at home playing video games, out hiking one of the Fraser Valley’s many hiking trails, or can be found mulling over his fantasy hockey pool. Before law, Jesse worked and volunteered in politics, and maintains an increasingly cynical interest in the topic.

KRISTINA JENNINGS

Kristina Jennings joined Sorensen Truong LLP in 2025 as a Designated Paralegal. She graduated with distinction from the Paralegal program at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2016 and has been working as a legal assistant since 2008. Kristina brings extensive experience across various areas of law, specializing primarily in civil litigation matters.

Outside of work, Kristina finds joy in outdoor activities and cherishes moments spent with her family, friends, and her dog, Chuli.

Rachael joined Sorensen Truong LLP in 2025, bringing over 15 years of experience in the administrative field. She earned her Business Administration diploma from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2015 and has since worked across various industries, focusing on office management and organizational efficiency. In 2021, Rachael began pursuing her Legal Administrative Assistant certification to further her career in the legal field.

Outside the office, Rachael enjoys spending time with her children, watching movies, and exploring the many scenic nature trails around Chilliwack.

JASDEEP GILL-KAHLON

Jasdeep Gill-Kahlon was born and raised in North Delta and relocated to the Fraser Valley in 2021, where she now proudly calls home. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2013. During her studies, Jas worked at law firms as a legal administrative assistant, an office manager for a rehabilitation company, and gained valuable experience as a residential youth support worker for at-risk youth.

Jas then went on to pursue her law degree at Thompson Rivers University, graduating in 2019. During her time in law school, she was awarded the Dean’s Course Prize in Employment Law for achieving the highest grade in the course. She was called to the British Columbia bar in 2020.

Following law school, Jas completed her articles at a large firm in Vancouver, where she began honing her skills as a litigator. In 2020, Jas was involved in a landmark trial resulting in a judgment of over $9,000,000 for a client who sustained a traumatic brain injury in a motor vehicle accident. This award represented the largest reported personal injury judgment in the province as of that date.

Thereafter, she continued her legal career at two firms in the Fraser Valley, where she gained extensive experience across a wide range of practice areas.

In 2025, Jas, alongside Michael and Daniel, founded Sorensen Truong LLP, bringing their shared commitment to providing high-quality legal services with a focus on integrity, professionalism, and client satisfaction.

 

EXPERIENCE AND PRACTICE

Jas is an experienced litigator who has appeared before both the Provincial and Supreme Court in British Columbia. Jas’s practice spans a wide range of legal areas, including Family Law, Estate Litigation, Employment Law, and Civil Litigation. With family law matters, Jas assists clients with separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, property division and cohabitation, marriage and separation agreements.

While she thoroughly enjoys advocating for clients in court, Jas understands that litigation can be costly, and she strives to resolve disputes through out-of-court settlements whenever possible. She regularly engages in negotiations and mediations to help clients reach fair and effective solutions.

In addition to her litigation expertise, Jas is also dedicated to helping clients with their estate planning needs. She drafts wills, representation agreements, and powers of attorney, ensuring her clients’ wishes are clearly documented and safeguarded.

 

EXPERIENCE AND PRACTICE

Jas is deeply committed to her community. She currently serves as the President of the Abbotsford & District Bar Association, where she plays an important role in fostering collegiately and supporting legal practitioners in the region. She has also served as a director on the Board of the Abbotsford Soccer Association.

In addition to her leadership roles, Jas is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.

Outside of her legal work, Jas is passionate about staying active and enjoys hot yoga, spin classes, and hiking. She also loves exploring new restaurants and cafes, always eager to try new places in town.
